National Consultation on Cooperative Education Hosted at IRMA on Shri Tribhuvandas K. Patel’s 122nd Birth Anniversary


Anand: The Tribhuvandas Patel Cooperative University organized a one-day National Consultation on Cooperative Education at the IRMA Auditorium, Anand, to commemorate the 122nd birth anniversary of Shri Tribhuvandas K. Patel, the visionary leader who laid the foundation of India’s cooperative movement.

Shri Dilipbhai Sanghani, Chairman of IFFCO and former Minister, highlighted Shri Tribhuvandas Patel’s farsighted leadership that led to the establishment of Amul in Anand. He noted that Amul has not only elevated Gujarat’s stature globally but has also empowered farmers and livestock rearers, bringing them dignity and prosperity.

He further praised the Government of India for honoring Shri Tribhuvandas Patel by establishing the world’s first cooperative university in his name. Highlighting the vision of ‘Prosperity through Cooperation,’ he emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector, with particular attention to women, farmers, and livestock rearers.

Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvandas Patel Cooperative University and Padma Shri awardee, stated that the creation of the Ministry of Cooperation reflects the government’s recognition of the cooperative sector’s vital role in national development. He emphasized the university’s mission to nurture skilled professionals and thought leaders to drive the sector’s sustained growth.

Marking the first birth anniversary of Shri Tribhuvandas Patel since the university’s inception, Dr. Vyas explained that the event aimed to explore pathways for strengthening the cooperative ecosystem, aligning university programs with sectoral needs, and shaping the future generation of cooperative professionals. Experts from across the country shared their insights to support the development of a strong and sustainable cooperative framework through the university.

The consultation was graced by Shri Anandakumar Jha and Dr. Mukesh Kumar from the Department of Cooperation, Government of India, and Shri Satish Marathe, Director, Reserve Bank of India, who shared their valuable perspectives on advancing cooperative education and sectoral development.

Shri Shaswat Narayan, Director of IRMA, extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries and participants.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from experts in the cooperative sector, officials from IRMA, NDDB, and Amul, along with a large number of IRMA students, reflecting the collective commitment to strengthening cooperative education in India.
