Vande Mataram @150, but No Tricolour in Sight: Anand Railway Station Sparks Public Outcry.

As the nation celebrated the 150th year of ‘Vande Mataram’ on the 7th of this month, patriotic fervour echoed across India with the national song being performed in various public spaces. Yet, in stark contrast to these celebrations, Anand Railway Station witnessed an unexpected and concerning sight—the tricolour was missing from the tall flag mast erected at a cost of several lakhs.

According to sources, the Central Government had installed these high-rise flag masts at major railway stations nationwide to ensure the Indian tricolour could be seen flying proudly every day, fostering a continuous spirit of patriotism among citizens. However, reports indicate that the flag at Anand Railway Station has been absent for quite some time.

The reason behind the missing flag remains unclear. Nevertheless, the situation has stirred public dissatisfaction and raised serious questions regarding maintenance, accountability, and the respect due to the national flag. Citizens have expressed a sense of surprise and disappointment over the negligence, especially at a time when the country is commemorating a significant milestone in its national heritage.
