Umreth Unity March: Paying Tribute to Sardar Patel, the Architect of a United India”


On the occasion of Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, Unity Marches were organized across all Assembly constituencies of the state. In line with this, the Unity March in the Umreth Assembly constituency of Anand district was held in the inspiring presence of dignitaries including MP Shri Miteshbhai Patel and MLA Shri Govind Parmar.

Shri Miteshbhai Patel highlighted that after India’s independence, Sardar Patel accomplished the extraordinary task of integrating 582 princely states into the country within just 18 months. He skillfully merged states like Junagadh and Hyderabad, making a significant contribution to the creation of a united India. To honor Sardar Patel’s dedication to national unity and integrity, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi installed the 182-meter-tall statue of Sardar Patel at Kevadia as a true tribute.

Emphasizing the vision of a developed India under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the MP urged the present generation to purchase domestically manufactured goods and actively participate in building a self-reliant India to realize the mission of a developed nation.

Chief speaker Shri Kantibhai Chavad provided detailed insights into Sardar Patel’s life and achievements. During the event, BLO Shri Kalpeshbhai Patel was awarded a certificate in recognition of the outstanding performance of SIR. Additionally, students from various schools were presented certificates for their excellent performance in different competitions.

At the beginning and conclusion of the march, the dignitaries participating in the Unity March paid tribute to Sardar Patel by adorning his half-statue with a garland and floral offerings. At the end of the program, the Swadeshi pledge was taken. To commemorate Sardar Patel’s remarkable work in the integration of princely states, tree plantation was carried out by the dignitaries at Sardar Smruti Van.
