Anand LCB Cracks Border Village Robbery Cases: Two Absconding Accused Arrested After Months-Long Manhunt”

The Anand Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested two absconding accused involved in four cases of assault and robbery targeting families residing alone in the border areas of Anand and Kheda districts. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them.

Approximately four months ago, the Anand LCB team had apprehended three accused in connection with similar serious offences. Since then, the LCB had been conducting an extensive search operation to trace and capture the remaining fugitives.

During the ongoing investigation, the LCB received a tip-off that Mahesh Chunara and Ranjit Chunara, wanted in connection with a theft and robbery case near the canal close to Runaj village in Sojitra taluka, were expected to arrive at Sojitra Crossroads. Acting promptly on this intelligence, the LCB team laid a strategic trap at the location and successfully arrested Mahesh Gordhanbhai Chunara (resident of Nadnpur) and Ranjit Gordhanbhai Chunara (resident of Tarapur).

During interrogation, both accused admitted to their involvement in multiple robbery incidents — ten months ago in Chaklasi village, eight months ago in Bhalej village, and four months ago in Nisraya and Runaj villages — carried out in collaboration with their accomplices.

The arrested accused have been handed over to Sojitra Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
