Anand: A shocking incident of overcharging has come to light at a newly opened mall located on Lambhvel Road in Anand city. A woman who had gone shopping at the mall was reportedly overcharged by more than ₹500. The discrepancy came to notice when she verified the total amount manually after paying the computerized bill.
After discovering the mismatch, the woman approached the mall management for clarification. Upon rechecking, the mall admitted to the error and agreed to refund the excess amount. However, the customer demanded a formal inquiry by the authorities, citing malpractice during billing.
In recent times, large numbers of customers have been flocking to big malls in urban areas to purchase household goods under various discount schemes and promotional offers. Yet, incidents like this serve as a warning for shoppers to remain vigilant.
Following this incident, citizens have expressed dissatisfaction and urged shoppers to cross-check their bills and purchased items carefully before leaving the counter.
Several residents have also appealed to the concerned authorities to investigate such irregularities in large retail stores and ensure strict action to safeguard consumer rights.
