Anand: Despite the serious threat posed to students’ safety and future, political middlemen have reportedly become active using money power and political pressure, to have the closure notice of a restaurant revoked. The restaurant, located behind the old bus Station in Anand, had been issued a 10-day closure notice by the Municipal Commissioner after reports highlighted the dangerous conditions faced by the students.
Earlier media reports revealed that, due to the presence of a non-vegetarian restaurant adjacent to the premises, students of the century-old Nagar Primary Education Committee–run Primary School No. 5 were forced to study under hazardous conditions. Taking cognizance of the matter, the Municipal Commissioner issued a strict notice directing the restaurant to shut down within ten days.
According to the information received, even the State Minister had taken note of the issue following the publication of these reports. Consequently, the Karamsad–Anand Municipal Corporation was instructed to investigate the matter and submit a report, which led to the issuance of the closure notice.
It is noteworthy that the State Government actively implements various schemes to strengthen the education sector. Yet, in this case, the situation appears completely reversed—students are forced to study in risky surroundings, while political intermediaries are attempting to protect the restaurant instead of prioritizing children’s safety. The issue has sparked considerable public debate and concern
