Anand: Residents of Gamdi village, including Navrang Society and over 30 other societies, have long suffered from overflowing sewage water, forcing more than 4,000 people to wade through filthy streets and raising fears of skin diseases.

In protest, local women marched to the Karamsad-Anand Municipal office, banging plates and chanting slogans. They warned that if the drainage issue is not resolved within 10 days, they will begin a hunger strike.
Ten months after Gamdi’s inclusion in the Karamsad-Anand Municipality, the civic body has failed to properly clean drainage lines, leading to stagnant water, foul odour, and mosquito breeding—heightening concerns of disease outbreaks.
Frustrated by inaction despite repeated appeals to the Municipal Commissioner and District Collector, residents have now demanded that Gamdi be reinstated as a Gram Panchayat.
